Ronald Snijders Extended Band
Flautist, composer and band leader Ronald Snijders is one of Surinams most important musicians. With his 'Extended Band' he will introduce at Winternachten his new programme 'Kawina pan Americana'. It is the first, and up to now the only, Surinam-Netherlands jazz ensemble that embraces the Surinam kawina and kaseko music influence . The fast and catchy rhythm of the kawina drum is ideally suited for improvisation and combines well with other musical sources, like funk, Latin, R&B and world music. The band has a large number of musicians and instruments, such as flute, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass, guitar, drums, percussion and kawina drum.
