Palio-Parea

Palio-Parea
Palio-Parea

The music of Palio-Parea takes the audience to a small smoky Greek cafe where musicians play the bouzouki and the baglama. Palio-Paréa (literally 'old friends together') is a group of musicians from the Netherlands who have been making Greek music since 1992. Composer/adapter Loek Schrievers is especially inspired by rembetika, old Greek city songs on on the seamy side of life, and by the work of the Greek poet K.P. Kavafis. Their latest cd Nachten in Attarin (Nights in Attarin), in which music and song reinforce the nostalgia in Kavafis's poems, was received enthusiastically, in Greece too. With Margôt Schenk, Loek Schrievers, Carel van Rijn, Osama Abdulrasol and Azzedine Jazouli.
