Lenworth Wilson

(Jamaica, 1983)
has an Associates Degree in computer application and Business studies. He also worked as an Information Technology teacher and Librarian. He has a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. He is a rounded artist who has an exceptional passion for poetry. This love for poetry started at a very young age of eight years and took form at about age 12. He now performs poetry at events and poetry shows independently or as a member of the One Poets Scociety. In 2006, he published his first publication: "Educate me".

Crossing the Seas - Sint Maarten

On Sint Maarten, Winternachten collaborates with the Philipsburg Jubilee Library. Crossing the Seas - as the event is called here, is an evening with readings by writers and poets. The participating authors from Sint Maarten are Peter Lake, Lucinda Audain, Lenworth Wilson Jr. and Mathilda Richards, with music and song by Amin Bouabdelli, Changa Hickinson, Donovan Froston, Erika van Putten and Shanella Romey James. The foreign authors in this programme are Bas Heijne (Netherlands), Yasmine Allas (Netherlands/Somalia), Bernice Chauly (Maleysia) and Iman Humaydan (Lebanon). All texts read by the foreign authors will be projected simultaneously in English translation. The M.C. is Clara Reyes.
Except for this public programme, the library also organises peformances of the writers in high schools and at the Sint Maarten University.

An evening with storytelling, music and poetry by Gabeba Baderoon from South Africa, Ramsey Nasr from The Netherlands, from Sint Maarten the storytellers Jozef Makou and Leon Noel and the group of poets called The Young Poets Society. De Curaçao/Dutch singer Izaline Calister sings stories put to music from Curaçao and The Netherlands. She will be accompanied by the percussionist Pernell Luciano Saturnino from Curaçao and the Dutch guitarist Edvard Verhoef. Clara Reyes is the MC of this multifacetted literary evening.
