taught a long time at a secondary school after her English language and literature studies in Leyden. Literature was part of her work as a teacher. She started writing when she was older. She became fascinated by people she didn't really know, brief encounters to which she herself gave a turn. Her characters lay bare their affairs as it were and that is a process that gives her a lot of satisfaction as she writes. Her stories appeared in Tirade and Hollands Maandblad. In 2007 a collection of short stories appeared entitled Vandaag misschien, misschien vannacht (Maybe today, maybe tonight). She is now working on a novel about four young people. She says: 'It is exciting to see what happens to them as the novel progresses.'(WU 2012)
