Frans Booi
(Bonaire, 1943) studied at the Art Academy of Den Bosch, The Netherlands, was a teacher and co-founder of FAB – Foundation for Art and Industry Bonaire, co-founder UN-FO-BON – Foundation Union Folkloriko Boneriano, a storyteller and a presenter, director and producer of the radio programme of Cultura di Bonaire and the stories of
Pa Buchi and Pa Gyermo. He developed the modelling system for the architecture of the Netherlands Antilles still being used today. For fourteen years he headed the Department of Culture and Education in Bonaire. He was co-writer of the first official cultural policy for the Netherlands Antilles, co-founder of OKSNA and Bonaire Representative from 1985 to 1992, founder and director of the Museum of Bonaire, from 1988 to 1992, president of the Commission of Linguistic Standardization of Papiemento. He published Boynay Tey, a book of mythology and oracle of Bonaire (1997), and wrote, directed and produced Boynay Searches for His Father for television. He is also a sculptor and painter.

An evening with storytelling, music and poetry by Gabeba Baderoon from South Africa, Ramsey Nasr from The Netherlands, Jit Narain from Suriname and Nukila Amal from Indonesia. Authors Frans booi, Monica Clarinda and Annie Francis from Bonaire will read from their work. The Curaçao/Dutch singer Izaline Calister sings stories put to music from Curaçao and The Netherlands. She will be accompanied by the percussionist Pernell Luciano Saturnino from Curaçao and the Dutch guitarist Edvard Verhoef. Actor and writer Roland Colastica from Curaçao is the MC of this multifacetted literary evening.
