Ernesto Rosenstand

(Santa Marta, Colombia 1931) migrated to Aruba when he was eleven and later worked there as a Spanish teacher as well as with the schools inspectorate and the exams office. In the 1950s he narrated children's stories for Radio Kelkboom, he translated, adapted and wrote original plays and a musical for Mascaruba and founded Teatro Experimental Arubano. He published poetry, prose and columns in local magazines. His many publications include Kuentanan Rubiano (1961), Kuentanan pa un i tur (1965), Tur cos a keda atras (1965), Macuarima (1971), Wadirikiri (1975), Kiko ta di nos (1982), Un anhelo sin fin (1982) and Companashi, Cronica di recuerdonan scondi. (2005). Shinishi di olvido (2006) contains a fair choice of the work of this author.

An evening with storytelling, music and poetry by Gabeba Baderoon from South Africa, Ramsey Nasr from The Netherlands, Jit Narain from Suriname and Nukila Amal from Indonesia. The Aruban writers and storytellers Ernesto Rosenstand and Hubert Booi will be interviewd by Ito Tromp. Another Aruban writer, Frank Williams, will read from his work. The Curaçao/Dutch singer Izaline Calister sings stories put to music from Curaçao and The Netherlands. She will be accompanied by the percussionist Pernell Luciano Saturnino from Curaçao and the Dutch guitarist Edvard Verhoef. Actor and writer Roland Colastica uit Curaçao is the MC of this multifacetted literary evening.
