Clairy Polak

(Amsterdam, NL, 1956) is a renowned radio and television host, best known for current-affairs programmes such as NOVA and Nieuwsuur. In 1995 she became the presenter of Radio 1 Journaal. Her persentation style so popular that in 1998 she won the radio-maker of the year award. Her TV-hosting debut came with NOVA and, later, Nieuwsuur, and together with Peter van Ingen and Pieter Jan Hagens she starred in the programme Buitenhof. In 2012 she moved back to radio for De Klassieken (The Classics) and Met het Oog op Morgen (Eye on Tomorrow). She has since moved on again. Together with philosopher Ad Verbrugge she created Het Filosofisch Kwintet (The Philosophical Quintet) from 2011 to 2014, which featured various guests for discussions about rule of law and the welfare state, as well as themes of identity.
