From 10 to 29 October Winternachten goes 'overseas' to South-Africa. In this third year of co-operation with our partners in Durban and Cape Town, four writers and poets from Indonesia, the Netherlands Antilles, Surinam and The Netherlands will perform in two festivals. Poetry Africa is organized by the Centre for Creative Arts of the University of Natal (Durban). In Cape Town the festival Tradewinds/Pasaaatwinde is a project by writer Antjie Krog and organizer Ben Williams. For Winternachten the following authors will participate: Sutardji Calzoum Bachri (Indonesia), Drisana Deborah Jack (Sint Maarten), Jit Narain (Suriname) en Christine Otten (The Netherlands, accompanied by the musician Jan Klug). Winternachten Overzee is sponsored by the Netherlands Culture Fund (Ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs), Hivos Cultuurfonds and the Nederlands Literair Produktie- en Vertalingenfonds.
