Winternachten 2019: 'Who Wants to Live Forever?'
Titled 'Who Wants to Live Forever', this 24th edition took place 17 – 20 January 2019 in The Hague and looked ahead to our future by conversations about the relationship between man and robot, about believing in technological innovation, about hope for and anxiety about the political future and the recurring desire for eternal life.

The 2019 Winternachten programme included interviews, conversations and panel discussions with poet Adam Zagajewski (Poland), writer Gioconda Belli (Nicaragua), writer Jennifer Clement (Mexico), historian and writer David Van Reybrouck (Belgium), writer Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi (Uganda), novelist Mark O'Connell (Ireland), rapper, spoken-word artist and writer HemelBesem (South Africa), writer and essayist Ian Buruma, writer and university Fine Arts program director Leni Zumas (US), writer Mohammad Rabie (Egypt), psychologist, novelist and screenwriter Ayelet Gundar-Goshen (Israel) and writer, translator and essayist Arshia Sattar (India).
