Antilles/Aruba 2007

This third edition of the International Literature Festival Crossing the Seas/Crusa Lama/Krusa Laman on the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba is a celebration of poetry, prose and storytelling. The festival brings together writers, poets, storytellers and musicians from six historically related countries: Indonesia, South Africa, Aruba, the Netherlands Antilles, Suriname and the Netherlands.
Four foreign authors and three musicians travel across Sint Maarten, Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao. On each island they perform together with local writers, storytellers and musicians, on schools and for the general public. All foreign performers will read in their mother tongue, while their texts are simultaneously projected in the local language: English, Papiamentu or Papiamento.
Crossing the Seas/Crusa Lama/Krusa Laman is organised by Winternachten – international literature festival The Hague, in co-operation with Zeus Foundation, the Island Government of Sint Maarten and Philipsburg Jubilee Library (Sint Maarten), Fundashon pa Planifikashon di Idioma and Roland Colastica (Curaçao), Bibliotheca Nacional Aruba and Wim Rutgers (Aruba), Kas di Arte and SKAL (Bonaire). The tour is sponsored from The Netherlands by the Ministry of Culture, Stichting DOEN, Netherlands Fund for Amateur Art and Performing Arts and the Foundation for Literary Production & Translation of Dutch Literature.
