South-Africa 2002

Programme

From 10 to 20 March the first edition took place of Winternachten Overseas in South Africa, in Durban and Cape Town. In co-operation with the festival Time of the Writer in Durban, and the Cape Town Festival, Winternachten brought togetherwriters and poets from Suriname, the Antilles, Indonesia and The Netherlands with their South-African collegues. Winternachten presented one evening programme in the festival in Durban, as part of the international event, and a two day literary event inthe Cape Town Festival. The Winternachten-participants were Frank Maritnus Arion, Cynthia McLeod, Senu Gumira Adjidarma and Henk van Woerden. Denise Jannah sang poems from different countries, accompanied by South-African musicians. Michaël Zeeman moderated the conversations with the writers. Winternachten presented one evening programme in the festival in Durban, as part of the international event, and a two day literary event inthe Cape Town Festival.
